October 7, 2020, Chicago, IL. Content Carnivores is honored to announce its sponsorship and participation in the Fifth Annual Road Home Program Benefit, Their Service, Our Gratitude: A Virtual Celebration for Veterans. Members of the military, military supporters, friends and family are invited to participate in a virtual evening in support of the Road Home Program: The National Center of Excellence for Veterans and Their Families at Rush.
The U.S Department of Affairs reports that more than 22 veterans die by suicide every day. Veteran advocacy groups are sounding the alarm on the long-term impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and the effects of social isolation on veteran mental health. Now, more than ever, donor support helps the Road Home Program serve those who served us while shaping the future of mental health care for veterans, their families, and others overcoming trauma.
"During this pandemic, the Road Home Program created dynamic virtual programs for veterans," said Chelli Miller, VP Content Carnivores. "As a Marine mom, I appreciate that over 1,000 veterans have benefited. Now it's our turn to show our support."
The keynote speaker for the benefit is General John Allen, USMC (Ret.), retired U.S. Marine Corps four-star general and former commander of the NATO International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and U.S. Forces in Afghanistan.
Dr. Omar Lateef, President and Chief Executive Officer of Rush University Medical Center, will provide opening remarks.
Rush has partnered with Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises to offer exclusive dinner packages from their leading chefs and restaurants for at-home dining. The evening will include both live and pre-recorded programming, with special entertainment by Chicago Cubs national anthem singer John Vincent.
Although we’re unable to come together in person, we can still change the course of a veteran’s life by raising funds to provide specialized mental health services, peer-to-peer outreach, counseling and other resources necessary to transition from military to civilian life — regardless of their ability to pay.
Together we can show them they are not alone.
